Chermiti Turns Down Tunisia as Portugal and Cape Verde Options Emerge

Youssef Chermiti has reportedly declined the opportunity to represent Tunisia national football team at international level, leaving the door open for a potential future with either Portugal national football team or Cape Verde national football team.

The 21-year-old forward, who was born in Lisbon to a Tunisian father and a Cape Verdean mother, had been on the radar of the Tunisian football authorities for some time.

However, sources indicate the striker has decided against committing his international future to Tunisia at this stage of his career.

Chermiti’s decision keeps his international eligibility wide open. Having developed his football in Portugal, he remains eligible to represent the Portuguese national side, while his maternal heritage also gives him the option of playing for Cape Verde.

The striker has already been part of Portugal’s youth setup in the past, a pathway that could still lead to a senior call-up if he continues to progress at club level. For now, the talented forward appears focused on his development while keeping his international future undecided.

Tunisia’s hopes of securing the promising attacker have therefore suffered a setback, as Chermiti weighs his options between three footballing nations tied to his heritage.
