Son Heung-min has heaped praise on Ivory Coast, describing the West African side as one of the most technically gifted and tactically refined teams he has faced in recent times.
Speaking on recent encounters, the Ivory Coast national football team drew admiration from the former Tottenham Hotspur forward, who highlighted their growing influence on the international stage.
“Ivory Coast is an excellent team made up of very good players,” Son said. “We are used to facing them, especially some players from the Premier League like Simon Adingra. It’s one of the African teams with the best ball possession we’ve encountered recently.”
The South Korean captain went further, emphasizing the Elephants’ well-rounded style of play. According to him, the Ivorians combine technical quality with strong collective organization and individual brilliance, making them a difficult side to contain.
“They play a rich brand of football—technically, collectively, and individually,” he added. “It’s a team that has the potential to go far in the World Cup.”
Son’s remarks underline the rising reputation of Ivory Coast as a formidable force, not just within Africa but on the global stage, as they continue to build a squad capable of challenging elite opposition.
