Gusau Hints at Fresh Faces in Super Eagles

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has revealed that supporters of the Super Eagles should expect to see new young players integrated into the national team in the coming months.

Gusau made this known while assessing the team’s recent performances under head coach Eric Chelle, commending the steady progress recorded since the Franco-Malian tactician took charge in January 2025.

The NFF boss expressed satisfaction with the Super Eagles’ display at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where Nigeria secured a third-place finish.

He noted that the team’s attacking strength and the emergence of promising young talents were among the major positives of the tournament.

According to Gusau, the technical crew remains committed to rejuvenating the squad by blending experienced stars with emerging players capable of sustaining Nigeria’s competitiveness on the continental and global stage.

Under Chelle’s leadership, the Super Eagles demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline throughout the AFCON campaign.

Notably, the team did not lose any of their matches during regulation time, underlining their consistency and defensive organization.

The third-place finish marked a strong statement of intent for the three-time African champions, as Chelle continues to shape a new-look Super Eagles side focused on youth development, attacking flair, and long-term success.

With preparations already underway for upcoming international fixtures, Nigerian fans will be eager to see the new generation of talents expected to don the green and white jersey as the team builds on its AFCON momentum.
