Vitor Pereira has agreed to become the new head coach of Nottingham Forest, with only final contractual details left to be concluded before his appointment is confirmed.
The Portuguese tactician is poised to step in at the City Ground following the dismissal of Sean Dyche, who was relieved of his duties in the early hours of Thursday after just 114 days in charge.
Pereira will become Forest’s fourth head coach this season.
Dyche’s departure came shortly after Forest’s goalless draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers, who currently sit at the foot of the Premier League table.
Forest remain just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches left in the campaign.
Pereira previously managed Wolves, guiding them to Premier League safety after taking over in December 2024.
However, he was dismissed earlier this season following a disappointing run of results. Wolves have been contacted as part of the formal process surrounding his expected appointment.
Forest face a crucial period, beginning with a Europa League play-off clash against Fenerbahçe S.K. next Thursday.
The club then return to domestic action with challenging league fixtures against Liverpool F.C., Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Manchester City F.C.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is believed to be dissatisfied with the team’s struggles in maximising its attacking potential and its ongoing battle near the bottom of the table.
Marinakis previously worked with Pereira at Olympiacos F.C., where the coach secured a league and cup double in 2015.
With a seven-day break before their European encounter, Forest are moving swiftly in hopes that Pereira’s arrival can stabilise the team and steer them away from relegation danger.
