Urana FC Expelled from Niger Cup Over Alleged Use of Fake Transfer Certificates

Urana FC have been disqualified from the Niger Cup after authorities determined the club fielded three Nigerian players with falsified transfer documentation during their Round of 16 fixture against USGN.

The decision was handed down by the Central Competitions Commission following an investigation into the eligibility of the players. According to the Commission, the three International Transfer Certificates presented by Urana FC were found to be fake.

Officials further stated that records show the club has not completed any official international transfers since February 2024. A deeper probe into FIFA’s Transfer Matching System revealed that the players in question remain registered under the Nigerian Football Federation, raising serious questions about how they were cleared to feature in the competition.

The ruling brings Urana’s cup campaign to an abrupt end and casts a shadow over the club’s administrative processes. Fielding ineligible players is considered a grave breach of competition regulations, and the Commission’s swift action signals a firm stance on compliance and integrity within Nigerien football.

It remains unclear whether additional sanctions, including fines or suspensions, will follow.
