Super Falcons to Face Cameroon in Pre-WAFCON Friendlies in Yaoundé

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will take on long-time rivals Cameroon in two international friendly matches in Yaoundé as part of their build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The fixtures come months after the two sides last met in a pre-WAFCON 2024 friendly at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, where Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory.

General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed that arrangements for the matches have been finalized in collaboration with the Cameroonian federation.

According to him, the friendlies are part of efforts to ensure the Super Falcons are adequately prepared to defend their continental crown in Morocco and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

On their part, the Fédération Camerounaise de Football expressed delight at hosting the Nigerian side.

FECAFOOT General Secretary Isaac Mandong noted that the games would also help strengthen the relationship between both football federations.

At the 2026 WAFCON finals, the Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.

The tournament will be hosted by Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026.
