Singida Black Stars Clear Amas Obasogie of Match-Fixing Allegations

Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars SC have cleared Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie of match-fixing allegations following the completion of an internal investigation into his performances.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper had been placed on suspension by the club last month after concerns were raised over what the club described as “suspicious performances” in three matches.

The games under scrutiny included Singida’s encounter with Flambeau du Centre in the CAF Confederation Cup, as well as NBC Premier League fixtures against Pamba Jiji FC and Namungo FC.

Following a detailed review of the incidents, the club announced that there was no evidence linking Obasogie to match-fixing activities.

The review process included an assessment of the player’s explanations as well as clarifications provided by the club’s management.

With the investigation concluded, Singida Black Stars have officially lifted the suspension on the Nigerian goalkeeper and confirmed that he is free to resume duties under head coach Othmen Najjar.

Reacting to the outcome, Obasogie expressed regret over the circumstances that led to the suspicions surrounding his performances.

He assured the club and its supporters that he would address the shortcomings identified during the review and work hard to regain their trust.

Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars in 2025 after leaving Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema. Since arriving in Tanzania, he has been part of the club’s campaign in both domestic competitions and continental football.

The clearance brings relief to both the player and the club as Singida Black Stars continue their push in the Tanzanian top flight and continental competitions.
