Marvin Senaya has officially committed his international future to Ghana national football team, ending speculation over his eligibility and handing coach Otto Addo a timely defensive boost.
The AJ Auxerre defender, who can operate both at right-back and center-back, has been rewarded with his first-ever Black Stars call-up after confirming his decision to represent Ghana ahead of other eligible nations, including France and Togo.
Ghana Football Association Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirmed that the invitation followed extensive engagement between the federation and the player. “There is that assurance that he would make it. The FA has been engaging him a number of times. We’ve had conversations with him over a long period of time, and he has accepted to play for us, the Black Stars of Ghana,” he said.
Senaya’s inclusion comes on the back of an impressive season in France, where his defensive metrics have stood out. The 25-year-old currently ranks second in interceptions and fourth in tackles won for Auxerre, underlining his growing influence and consistency at club level.
His decision represents a significant recruitment win for Ghana, who continue to strengthen their squad with dual-nationality talents across Europe. For Senaya, the call-up marks the beginning of a new chapter on the international stage, with the opportunity to establish himself in one of Africa’s most storied national teams.
