Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the new members of the Black Star’s technical staff will not receive a monthly salary.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has strengthened the senior national team’s coaching staff with five new recruits.
Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Björkegren have been appointed assistant coaches, while Jose Daniel Martínez Alfonso joins the team as an analyst. Carlos Lozano Romero and Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi complete the staff as psychologist and physical trainer, respectively.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Ghana’s Minister of Sports, Kofi Adams, clarified that although these new members will not receive salaries, they will receive allowances, per diems, and participation bonuses during the tournament.
“None of them will be on a salary contract. None of them will receive a salary, but they will receive certain allowances paid to the team, and these additions are only for the World Cup,” he said.
“After the World Cup, the contract will end. They will receive certain sums, including possibly participation bonuses, but they will not receive 100% of these bonuses. Of course, they will also be entitled to the victory bonuses granted to all team members in the event of success, as well as the per diems paid to team members,” he explained.
Ghana, who will be participating in their fifth World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
