Bamba Dieng has chosen the perfect moment to rediscover his best form. After a difficult period and a loan spell at Angers, the Senegalese striker has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence with Lorient just three months before World Cup 2026.
Initially sent to the reserve team by coach Olivier Pantaloni upon his return to Brittany, the 25-year-old waited until December to prove his worth and gradually establish himself as a key figure in the squad.
Since then, the former Marseille forward has been unstoppable, scoring 11 goals in his last 10 matches, including six in Ligue 1 in 2026 alone. His impressive form arrives at the right time as Senegal prepares for upcoming friendlies against Peru and Gambia.
With Nicolas Jackson struggling for playing time and other attacking options failing to fully convince, Dieng’s current consistency could shake up the hierarchy and open the door to a long-awaited return to the national team.
