André Ayew Ends Goal Drought in Thrilling Draw Against Feyenoord

André Ayew marked a significant milestone in his spell with NAC Breda after scoring his first goal for the Dutch side in a pulsating 3–3 draw against Feyenoord in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

The experienced Ghana captain delivered his moment late in the first half, rising high to power home a header deep into stoppage time and hand NAC Breda a 3–2 advantage in what turned into a chaotic and entertaining encounter. His strike came after fellow Ghanaian Kamal Sowah had earlier pulled NAC level, setting up a lively contest that saw both teams exchange goals throughout the afternoon.

Feyenoord had initially taken the lead through Japan international Ayase Ueda, but the match soon evolved into a showcase for Ghanaian attacking talent. Ayew’s goal proved particularly significant as it ended a year-long scoring drought, with the veteran forward finding the net for the first time since March 2025.

The 34-year-old, who joined NAC Breda in January after leaving Le Havre AC, featured for 79 minutes and expressed delight after opening his account for the club. Ayew said he was pleased to get his first goal and hopes it will be the beginning of many more as he continues to rediscover his rhythm.

While the draw lifted the mood within the NAC Breda camp, Ayew’s return to the scoresheet has also sparked renewed discussion about his place in Ghana’s plans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With the veteran forward showing signs of sharpness again, his experience could yet prove valuable for the Ghana national football team on the global stage.
