Power Dynamos produced a dominant display to defeat Green Buffaloes FC 3-0, sending the defending champions to the top of the table with 45 points, two ahead of Red Arrows.
The Kitwe giants got off to a dream start, striking in the very first minute through talisman Moses Shumah, who unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner to give Power Dynamos the early lead.
Momentum stayed firmly with the hosts, and in the 17th minute, Winger, Ronnel Manyanga, doubled the advantage. He expertly controlled a pinpoint cross from Kondwani Chiboni before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Green Buffaloes had a chance to pull one back in the 39th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Martin Njobvu was fouled by John Soko. However, Goalkeeper Willard Mwanza produced a heroic save to deny Francis Mwenye an opportunity to score.
Just before halftime, Power Dynamos struck again, with Shumah completing his brace to make it 3-0, capping off a relentless first-half performance.
In the second half, Head Coach Osward Mutapa rotated the squad to manage the demanding fixture schedule. Salulani Phiri replaced Owen Tembo at the start of the second half, while Brian Masanyinga and Selanji Siame later came on for Frederick Mulambia and Kondwani Chiboni, respectively. Aaron Katebe also replaced Dominic Chanda.
The boys continued to threaten after the restart, with Shumah, Manyanga, and Austin, all going close, but the scoreline remained unchanged.
Speaking after the match, Mutapa praised his team’s performance and emphasised the importance of squad rotation during a busy run of fixtures. The team will travel to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to face Zesco United in their next league encounter.
