The Senegal Football Federation has pushed back strongly against CAF’s decision to award Morocco the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, confirming plans to take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
CAF’s Appeal Board ruled on Tuesday that Morocco should be declared champions, reversing the outcome of the final against Senegal.
The decision followed an incident in Rabat on January 19, where Senegal’s team walked off the pitch, leading to the match being ruled as forfeited.
Senegal’s football authorities have expressed deep frustration with the outcome, arguing that the ruling undermines fairness in the game.
In a strongly worded statement, the federation described the verdict as unjust and out of step with the principles of the sport, warning that it could harm trust in African football competitions.
The body added that it is preparing to file an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in a bid to overturn the decision and protect the country’s footballing interests.
It also assured supporters that it remains committed to upholding fairness and will continue to pursue the case while keeping the public updated on any developments.
