In response to the controversy sparked by an interaction on social media, Moroccan international Ismail Saibari wanted to set the record straight.
The Atlas Lion explains that it was a mistake: “To clarify everything that has happened over the past few days, I accidentally liked a photo on Instagram without paying attention. I understand why some people are angry, but that doesn’t take away from the love and dedication I have for Morocco.”
The Moroccan international also used this clarification to call for respect for his privacy, lamenting the attacks targeting his loved ones.
Eager to move past this, he urges fans to focus on national unity: “Families shouldn’t be insulted because they have nothing to do with any of this. Let’s focus on what really matters namely, the upcoming World Cup and stay united to make our dream come true.”
