World Cup 2026 : Donald Trump backs Iran participation!

Tensions around Iran continue to shape the geopolitical atmosphere ahead of World Cup 2026, which the United States, Canada and Mexico will host. Despite the strained context following recent US strikes on Tehran, FIFA president Gianni Infantino revealed that he received assurances from Donald Trump regarding Iran’s participation in the tournament.

After meeting the American president, Infantino explained that the situation of the Iranian national team had been part of their discussions.

Infantino stated that Trump confirmed Iran would be welcome at the competition. “During our discussions, President Trump reaffirmed that the Iranian team was, of course, welcome to participate in the tournament in the United States,” he said.

The FIFA president also highlighted football’s role in easing global tensions, adding: “More than ever, we need an event like the FIFA World Cup to bring people together.” Trump’s position therefore sends a strong signal as preparations for World Cup 2026 continue in a complex international climate.
