West Ham United: Adama Traoré banned from the gym

At West Ham United, Adama Traoré, the Spanish-Malian winger, has been instructed by his coach to avoid the weight room in order to preserve his explosiveness.

Having arrived this winter from Fulham and signed until June 2027, Traoré has impressive muscles, almost comparable to those of a bodybuilder. This is a feature that Nuno Espirito prefers not to emphasize.

“His genetics have been like this for some time now, and he should avoid the gym. I told him not to go to the gym,” the Portuguese coach explained at a press conference.

The coach specified that his player will focus exclusively on prevention and mobility work.

“He will do prevention work, but he won’t be there to lift weights. For example, Airidas Golambeckis, our 18-year-old defender, spends hours in the gym building muscle. We need him to gain weight, not Traoré,” he added.

Having already worked under him between 2018 and 2021, Nuno Espirito intends to optimize Adama Traoré’s performance while preserving his natural qualities, particularly his speed on the right wing.
