Ten-year prison sentence requested for Rafa Mir

The situation surrounding Spanish striker Rafa Mir has taken a dramatic turn. The player, currently linked to Sevilla FC and previously on loan at Valencia CF, now faces serious legal trouble after the public prosecutor requested a ten-and-a-half-year prison sentence for aggravated sexual assault.

According to reports from the Spanish newspaper Las Provincias, the alleged incident dates back to September 2024, when Mir was playing in La Liga with Valencia. The accusation came from a woman he reportedly met in a nightclub before accompanying her to her home.

Police arrested the striker shortly after the complaint, and he spent nearly two days in custody before appearing in court. During the hearing, Rafa Mir denied the accusations and maintained that the relationship was consensual. However, prosecutors have requested several strict penalties: a prison sentence of more than ten years, a 13-year restraining order preventing him from approaching the alleged victim within 500 meters, seven years of probation, and an eight-year ban on working with minors.

In addition, the footballer could face a fine of €64,000. With legal proceedings now intensifying, the case could effectively bring his current season to an abrupt end. ⚖️
