FIFA has announced the suspension of the electoral process within the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA) following financial difficulties identified ahead of the scheduled league elections.
The world football governing body revealed that the decision was taken after concerns emerged over the federation’s financial situation on the eve of elections for the regional leagues. FIFA also confirmed that it is currently working on establishing a mechanism aimed at resolving the financial challenges affecting the process.
As a result of the suspension, the elections have now been postponed until May while efforts continue to stabilize the situation within the Congolese football administration.
In the meantime, the mandate of the normalization committee overseeing the federation is set to expire on April 15, 2026. During the transitional period, FECOFA’s Secretary General, Lily Tshimpumpu, will manage the federation’s affairs until a newly elected executive committee is installed.
