All the teams in contention still have a chance heading into the second legs.
Zamalek returned from their away match against the Congolese side Otoyo with a draw. The match between CR Belouizdad and Al Masry also ended in a draw.
Olympique Club Safi and Wydad also played to a draw on Sunday evening.
USM Alger, meanwhile, was dominated by Maniema and will have to go above and beyond to overturn the result in the second leg.
The second leg, scheduled for next weekend, promises some surprises.
