Arthur Avom lit up FC Lorient’s evening with a sumptuous half-volley that allowed Les Merlus to snatch a draw at LOSC Lille (1-1) on Sunday in Ligue 1.
At just 21 years of age, the Cameroonian midfielder scored what will remain one of the goals of the season.
In the mixed zone, still carried away by emotion, he savored the moment.
“The ball came back to me, and I thought I’d take a chance. Afterwards, I was stunned, a little out of it. It feels really good. “
Unaccustomed to shooting from distance, Avom appreciates the significance of his strike.
“I don’t often take my chances during games, which is what makes this goal so special. You could say it’s the best goal of my life.”
