Tusker FC SSO Austin Oduor Earns Promotion at the APS

Tusker FC’s Safety and Security Officer (SSO), Austin Oduor Otieno, has earned a well-deserved promotion within the Administration Police Service (APS) after successfully completing an intensive Leadership and Command Course at the National Police College, Embakasi A Campus.

The rigorous programme, which spanned six months, also included further training at the Administration Police Leadership and Sports Campus, underscoring Oduor’s commitment to professional growth and excellence in leadership.

Following the completion of his training, Oduor has been officially conferred with the rank of Inspector of Police (Administration Police Service). The promotion marks another significant milestone in Oduor’s remarkable career, reflecting his growing influence both within the Tusker FC family and across national football safety and security structures. He is a CAF-certified National Safety and Security Officer (NSSO) and has been instrumental in shaping match-day safety standards at the highest level.

Beyond overseeing national team fixtures and high-profile domestic matches, Oduor played a key role in the safety and security planning for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) draw early last year, as well as during the final tournament, before departing for his leadership training.

He has also worked closely with fellow CAF NSSOs, Evans Ocharo and Kingsley Litali, in capacity-building initiatives aimed at developing more safety and security officers across all tiers of football in Kenya, alongside colleagues from the uniformed services.

Oduor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing his MA in International Security.
