Matchday 16 of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League delivered drama and stoppage-time heroics as league leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and She Corporate FC produced decisive performances to keep the title race tight, while Kampala Queens FC returned to winning ways.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC relied on two late strikes from striker Jovia Nakagolo to snatch a 2–1 victory over Amus College WFC at Amus College Stadium in Bukedea, maintaining their lead at the top of the table.
Doreen Aujat had put the hosts ahead early with a brilliant solo effort, skilfully evading her marker before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper. Kawempe controlled possession and dictated play for much of the first half but were unable to breach Amus’ defence, heading into the break trailing 1–0.
After the restart, the visitors intensified their search for an equaliser, though clear-cut chances were limited. The turning point arrived in the final five minutes when Amus goalkeeper Elizabeth Atieno mishandled a cross, allowing Nakagolo to score from the rebound and level the match.
In stoppage time, Nakagolo capitalised on another opportunity, heading in from a cross to complete the comeback and secure all three points. Her second-half brace earned her Player of the Matc. In truth, if they go on to lift the title, this dramatic victory will be remembered as a key moment in their campaign.
She Corporate FC claimed a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Makerere University WFC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. Kisakye Sandra opened the scoring in the 7th minute, exploiting spaces in Makerere’s midfield.
Jesca Namanda was pivotal, providing an assist and scoring herself from a well-placed corner cross early after the restart, Namiiro Noeline pulled one back for Makerere in the 54th minute, but She Corporate’s improved attacking patterns, disciplined defensive organisation, and use of width allowed them to hold on for victory.
Namanda’s influential performance earned her Woman of the Match, highlighting her impact in She Corporate’s title challenge.
