Young-star Lamin Colley ran the show for Colley Stars as they bounced back from their defeat against Wallidan last time to beat Menmar Banjul United 2-0 at the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.
Colley opened the scoring for Colley Stars with a looping header from the back post in the ninth minute before the young sensation used his electric pace to run past the defender and rounded the keeper to put the ball on a plate for Bakary Sanyang to blast home and put the game to bed as a contest.
Menmar Banjul United dominated possession and created numerous chances, but Colley Stars defended resolutely and were clinical in front of goal.
Meanwhile, struggling Gunjur United picked up a hard fought 1-0 win over Sibanor United at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama. Ansumana Daffeh’s first half penalty was the only goal of the match to secure their only their third win of the season.
Elsewhere, RS Tallinding picked up three points with three goals on the night. Captain Modou Lamin Sallah’s brace and Kebba Sanneh’s individual brilliance were enough for the Tallinding-based outfit to recover from their shock defeat to Baalor Sarr and move to 18 points on the standings.
Meanwhile, Elite United collected all points in a 2-0 defeat of Wallidan in Bakau with goals in either half by Babucarr Charty and Pierie Tamba securing the win for Elite.
Elsewhere, Wagadu and North Star played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Live Your Dreams Academy Field in Basori. Kutubo Dibba broke free and fired home a stunning shot to open the scoring for Wagadu in the 22nd minute, but North Star staged a stunning fightback when Alieu Dibba scored from a free-kick.
Folomo Beavogui was the quickest to react on a loose ball inside the box to score to complete the turnaround for the away team at half time. However, Kutubo Dibba kept his composure an found the bottom left corner to complete his brace and ensured parity for Wagadu in the 52nd minute as both sides settled for a 2-2 draw.
Matches will continue tomorrow when Unique Global and Suwo Kono lock horns at the Ousman Saho Football Field, and AJ Soccer host Baalor Sarr in Soma, while Serrekunda United and Kanifing East square off at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. Elsewhere, Marimoo Pakfood takes on Gambia Armed Forces at the Bakau Mini Stadium.
