COSAFA Flag Carriers Unveil Provisional Squads

The Zambia Schools National Team has kicked off preparations for the 2026 CAF Schools championship set for the next month.

Having emerged winners in the boys and girls categories at Cosafa level, the Zambian teams earned the right to represent the region at the continental stage.

The Zambia Under-15 Boys National Team qualified for their first ever CAF Schools tournament on the third time of asking.

Zambia will be coached by Evaristo Mkandawire who oversaw their successful campaign that saw them beat South Africa 2-1 in the final of the regional championship.

Players to look out for will be Maxen Msimuko who won the Player of the Tournament prize at the regional tournament with Charles Sitali who took home the Golden Boot at Cosafa level after netting four goals.

The Zambian women team will also be making its debut at the CAF Schools with coach Chisala Chibesa hoping to making a lasting impression.

Key players for Zambia will be Hildah Kangwa who was named Player of the Tournament in the Girls competition at Cosafa level.

Others are goalie Winfridah Mutale who claimed the Golden Glove as best goalkeeper.

The teams that comprise 30 member provisional squads will be trimmed to 20 prior to departure.
