Power Dynamos Football Club has exited the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League, following a 3–1 defeat to Pyramids FC in Cairo.
The Kitwe-based side has finished third in Group A with seven points, after having played six matches, winning two, drawing one and losing three.
In recognition of the team’s determination and strong performance in the competition, the Club has also earned a place in the world’s top 500 clubs, ranking 472nd in the latest International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) standings.
Speaking after the match, Head Coach, Osward Mutapa, praised his players for their good performance in today’s game and expressed optimism that the team will return next season “bigger and better.”
Midfielder Dominic Chanda and Defender Owen Tembo said the campaign exposed them to a higher level of football, adding that they are proud of what the team has achieved.
And Football of Zambia Association representative and Head of Delegation, Brian Nswana Sakulenga, said Power Dynamos has made the nation proud, commending the discipline shown throughout the team’s outing in Cairo.
Sakulenga advised the team to go back to the drawing board and address a few areas that could help them do better in future CAF Champions League campaigns.
Power Dynamos will now shift focus to the local league as the Club pushes to return to continental football next season.
The team’s next assignment is an away fixture against NAPSA Stars, to be played on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at REIZ Arena in Lusaka.
